He might have been at a restaurant and been asked to give an autograph by the restaurant. Around here, I see a lot of plates at restraurants autographed by Univ. of Alabama sports figures (Bear Bryant, Gene Stallings, Shaun Alexander, Joe Namath, etc.).

Hmmm...that IS his signature.

Doc does sign things like this usually on request from orchestras who are doing fund-raisers or by friends with reputable charity organization links.
