![]() | Double 'C' Please excuse my ignorance but back in the 'olden' days when I played in dance bands we referred to middle C (on the staff), high C (second line above the staff, and C above high C. I'm not really hep on some of the new terminology. What exactly is meant by a double and triple C? Thanks. |

![]() | As I understand it your about right... Middle 'C' is in the stave high 'C' is 2 stave lines above 'F' Double high 'C' is next up in progression and so on.. I don't worry about anything above the 'D' above high 'C' because that's where my range tops out at!

![]() | Yeah that's territory I've yet to get into... I think Double High 'C' is where Maynard Ferguson's range starts. Must be nice.

| Forte User | There's at least one other youngster on this board who can scream a double-C. As for me, I've only hit it twice in my lifetime, and never in concert. I'm afraid I top out at G. Actually, most of what I've heard Maynard play is right around the high G. Some of the stuff lingers around A or B, but usually not much more than that.

![]() | for me i have two different tops. the public range and the practice room range. my public range is the f above hi c and in the practice room i have played the a above that, but it is not a note for public consumption nor have i played it consistantly i can consistantly get the g but don't consider that a public note.
