Where do the doubles start? Is the G above the 2nd ledger line C (high C) considered the first double?

My ears hurt just thinking about it....dubba must be at least another octave up....I'm sure lots of experts will have an answer for you. I still haven't worked out if you are born with the ability to play these notes...ie tightly sprung lips or you practise pedal long tones for 20 years

The double register begins with the C above the fifth leger line above the staff.
The fifth leger line is a HIGH B, not double B.
That's the way the guys I know think of range.

I double on french horn and conch shell... but I think they start on pic or flugel.

I agree with Wilmer.
I would describe it like this.

The datum is first ledger line E, high C is the ledger line 7,
anything above ledger line 7 is "high".
Double High C is one step above ledger line 10,
Any note above ledger line 10 is double.

Just another way to think of it.
