![]() ![]() | ending a note Hi Manny, I've been recording myself playing basic things from the beginning of the Arban book and have noticed that I sometimes "trail off" at the end of a longer note (I can even see the "trail" on the sound wave). I feel like I'm having trouble releasing the end of the note. You've talked a lot about the proper way to attack a note (eliminating the gap between inhale and exhale, etc), but what about elimingating tension at the end of the note? Thanks, Jimi

![]() | Re: ending a note Jimi, Hey, buddy. The best way to eliminate tension is to not allow it to start. The notes you play you be like blowing condensation on a January window. When you do that, you'll notice that there isn't tension at the end because there was none at the beginning. Now, do it again but tighten your gut a bit and you'll notice the tension at the throat. Now, do it again properly without tension. Think about that for a spell and get back to me. Next week I have mostly off because of Y.P. concerts if you want to get together then. Lemme know. ML |
