Re: Enhancing Trumpet Playing with Dental Architecture
Harry James had implants installed in 1964. The DVD of Harry James in Japan from 1964 showed how he was strugging with the new teeth. But videos from late that year and 1965 showed he was back to full strength. When he had the implants removed in 1981, and dentures put in, he was basically done as a player. Of course the cancer was setting in by then and he was drunk all the time. I saw him 3 weeks before he died and have an audio of that performance in Denver June 10, 1983. He could barely stand up and had no strength. However what little he did play, showed his sound was intact. He was still Harry James.
I play a King Dual Bore Balanced Super 20/Symphony HARRY JAMES model built by Chris Charvat at H.N. White Co.
My mouthpiece is a Patrick CR91S. There is Harry James...then there is every other trumpet player!!
