![]() | The Golden Rule We've all heard it; Do unto others as you'd do onto yourself! I try to live my life this way. I don't always, but I do try. I have been getting fairly close with my section mates in the 3thrd section in my community band. We all get along great and try to help and support each other for the better of the band. Some of our music is quite small; IE the old marching band music you'd put on a small lyre and place on your horn while marching. This does not bode well for eyes that are older such as mine and my section mates who are 30 plus years my elder. So what I do is take those small charts and using my notation software make them in to full size easily readable charts for the whole section; all three of us! I commented on one of my section mates mute holders. He had made himself a dual mute holder out of wood that to me looked just fabulas. Wouldn't you know it; I attended rehersal last night and Bob had one made just for me. I was stunned! What a kind gesture. I'll treasure this as long as I live. It's priceless to me when you look at the detail and time he put into it. Although he maintains that it was nothing, I don't feel that way at all. Anyway I just thought I'd share this with you all. Although it was never my intention to receive gifts from anyone I must say it pays to treat others with respect and dignity. I wanted to show the detail in the muteholder so I left the pictures kind of large on purpose. Enjoy! One last thing to the Chucks and Ed's of the board. I know my hands were dry; I know my manicure is poor. Can't think of anything else at the moment but I'm sure you'll let me know about it. ![]() ![]()
