One thing I'd add is to be careful about not dumbing yourself down just to be "one of them".
Don't purposely make mistakes
Do your best, work hard to improve
don't ever compare yourself to them in your own mind.... its all about your journey.
As soon as you start comparing yourself, saying to yourself how much better you are than the other guy it's done. Even if you never say it to them directly, you are very likely to let it show in body language or other subtle ways.
I like the idea about being encouraging to others that someone suggested. I think if you genuinely cheer their successes the rest will come naturally.
