![]() | Holton Horn History I have a 1963 Holton Colligeiate trumpet (By Frank Holton Elkhorn, Wis. USA engraved on bell also). It is a heavy brass horn (I removed the lacquer), and has the lowest action valve stems I've seen to date. It has the look of a hand made horn with heavy duty third valve finger slide, and heavy valve caps top&bottom. The water key stems are under the slides, long and hexagon in shape. The finger buttons have the highest quality of pearl, and the bell looks like its one piece. All the braces are heavy duty. I can't tell if the leadpipe is reversed, but it is an impressive silver/nickle piece of workmanship. It plays easy, and seems to in pitch up and down. Does anyone know about this horn, or can you direct me to someone who might?...................thanks |
