I do not remember your experience level, Noah, but I do remember you assuring readers that you keep your horn clean. When you empty your water-keys do you drain a considerable amount of moisture? Sometimes water-keys can remain plugged or diminished in their effectiveness in spite of routine cleaning. This may be more the case with Amado water-keys than lever-style in my experience. If you have Amados, be aware of hazards associated with tiny spring-driven pieces if you attempt to disassemble them!

I would try and empty more frequently. Unless the excess is causing that wonderful "popping" sound while playing, I wouldn't be too concerned. I empty at every available rest and still will have water pour out my tuning slide when I swab out the lead pipe.
