![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's friday night You have to drive 100 miles or more to a gig and only will probably have a half an hour to wind down before the gig. What do you all do to unwind before starting to play? Any preventative medicine? Robin

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: It's friday night Flaedle Suppe!! Usually in Germany there is an inn close at hand to the gig, and something warm in the tummy brings out the serotonin. In this part of America, a half hour warm up usually has to do, and if the gig involves a choir, chat up the cutest alto. Sopranos are almost always happily married, and they are sopranos. Substitute bananas for the Flaedle Suppe.

![]() | Re: It's friday night Today I had to drive 400-some miles to get to the gig I have to play tomorrow - a Navy funeral. I always try to bring a book, a crochet project, and workout clothes - a good workout always helps me unwind. Tonight I'll practice a bit with the silent brass, and tomorrow I'll have a good warmup. After that, it's just the stress of the ride back!

![]() | Re: It's friday night As long as I'm not running late or having any other difficulties on the drive, I don't have to wind down before playing. In fact, many times I will listen to music on the way to get me into the proper mindset for the gig. My problem is winding down at home after the gig and the return 100 mile trip. Sometimes it takes me until the wee hours of the morning to have any luck going to sleep.
