Jim Donaldson's Trumpet Gearhead page.

Hi all,
A question came up in the Zeus thread how to empty water from your horn without using spit valves.

Well, the answer can be found here:
http://www.dallasmusic.org/gearhead/...g%20Water.html
I use this method all the time, since my Conn V1 does not have a 3rd valve slide water key. Its really easy to execute, and gets the water out of the whole horn in one fell swoop. Its cool 8) . Its also a fun trick if you're out on the marching field, and there are saxes about 5 feet in front. Get all the water in the bell, and when the drum major blows the whistle for 'horns up', then its shower time for the woodwinds!

Jim's top page is here:
http://www.dallasmusic.org/gearhead/index.html#FAQ

later,
Rob

Thanks for the tip. I don't have much of a problem with any of my horns EXCEPT my flugal (Kanstul). Gurgles like a bad toilet. Love that horn but the water problem is very annoying.
