| Piano User | Jordan Hirsch gig in Brooklyn (Shameless Promotion) Hey guys, want to let you know about an upcoming show in Brooklyn NY. I will be playing with my band, The Kleztrapohbix on April 24 at Barbes, 376 9th Street, (corner 6th Avenue) in Park Slope Brooklyn. We will be doing the 7:00 show. The Kleztraphobix are Jordan Hirsch, (Trumpet) Mike Cohen (Clarinet), Ron Caswell (Tuba), Psachya Septimus (Accordion), and Rich Melnikoff Huntley (Percussion). We will be performing a mix of original and traditional Klezmer and Eastern European tunes, in the inimitable rocking Kleztraphobix manner. Check out our CD, Another Bottle of Vodka, at CDBaby.com or iTunes. Last edited by tromj : 04-22-2007 at 11:05 AM. |

| Re: Jordan Hirsch gig in Brooklyn (Shameless Promotion) I'm in Brooklyn this week...tried to see Ron Miles/Jenny Scheinmann at Barbes last night but it was packed! I'll try to stop by tonight. It'd be cool to meet another TM'er. Cheers, Jason |

| Re: Jordan Hirsch gig in Brooklyn (Shameless Promotion) I wish I were close enough to push my way into Barbes to hear you Jordan. I would love to hear the kind of music The Kleztraphobix creates. Is there a place to hear this group on line? Have fun and let us know how it goes. |

| Re: Jordan Hirsch gig in Brooklyn (Shameless Promotion) I made it down to Barbes tonight to catch Jordan and his band The Kleztraphobix, and boy I'm glad I did! The band plays Klezmer music, but with a decidedly modern touch, and has great energy and musicianship. The lineup of trumpet, clarinet, tuba, accordian and drums gives them the ability to play the standards, but they are all good enough improvisers to liven it up quite a bit. Jordan has a beautiful, ringing tone, and great command of the horn. Some of the unison lines he had to execute with the clarinetist were fast and tough, and he navigated them with ease. He is also a fine band leader, and was quite funny and charming with his intros of the tunes. Great band and great show! Catch them if you can. |

| Piano User | Re: Jordan Hirsch gig in Brooklyn (Shameless Promotion) Thanks for the kind words. JunkyT is in town to celebrate a family event, and managed to come down with his charming parents to see us play. The guys in the band really appreciated it. We do so much whenn we can come to each other's gigs. Barbes is a great spot, and has a lot of terrific trumpet players playing in the various bands. We have a website, www.kleztraphobix.com. Alex, PM me. Jordan |
