Jules Levy Works

Just curious if anyone has any experience with his pieces.

I have an old collection of cornet solos and several were Levy editions. Lots of wide interval jumps in single, double and triple tonguing patterns. Based on the old ITG CD of cornet virtuosos and the sheet music of his editions, he must have been very proficient at this.

I like his Carnival of Venice version. (notice I didn't say I could play it!)

Levy wrote a method book and Jerry Callet owns a copy. It is the scope and size of the Arban book. It would be a wonderful thing if it came back into print.

I had never heard about that! It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has read/studied from the book...

Jules Levy's version of Carnival makes all other versions pale in comparison. I sincerely wish I could find a recording of a great trumpeter playing it...

You can find passages from "Levy's Instruction Book" in Jerry's "Trumpet Secrets" method. The Carnival of Venice is also there.
C.G. Conn is listed as the publisher of the Instruction Book.
