There is no substitute for trying a horn before you buy it unless you are a collector. The small investment in gas will pay for itself many times over in peace of mind! San Diego is about 120 miles away, I am sure there is a well stocked store there. Jupiter has some excellent instruments, their quality control is very good, BUT if you haven't played one, it is too early to order one. Other than the expensive handbuilt horns, the only other trumpet that I would buy blind is a Yamaha. They have their manufacturing under control. In recent history(last 10 years), I have not seen nor heard of a bad one!
