![]() ![]() | Lampshades After many years of frustration with my "Martin Committee" trumpet i have finally saved up my pennies and bought a nice shiney top of the range Jupiter trumpet. I must say it is a beaut, and it also has the advantage of playing quite well as well. Subsequently, my committee is now looking sad and unemployed. Last night when i was watching the title sequence of the Waltons in my conservatory, i had a brilliant idea; instead of investing in a new lampshade, i should turn my Martin Committee into a lampshade!!! It would serve two functions;as a light, and punishment for all those years of making me split notes, and restricting my range. Anyway, to cut a long story short, i have all the design credentials of British Leyland, and need some ideas of how to turn it into fashionable lampshade. Yours always B.U.M. |

![]() | Re: Lampshades Hey Bloomin', surely you mean a lamp rather than a lampshade. Anyway it's pity to ruin a good Martin. Why not sell it to some unsuspecting trumpet player who drools over one of these horns?(It seems that there are a lot of them)? Mikey |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Lampshades You could run fiber-optics through the leadpipe, then out the bell (and spit valves) without damaging the retail value--you could get a nifty fireworks effect to represent all the missed notes! Have fun, and send us a picture!

| Pianissimo User | Re: Lampshades Or you could just pull the middle valve and run an electrical line through. But that would make it an awfully wide lamp, wouldn't it? I do like the idea of turning it into a bit of eye candy though.

![]() ![]() | Re: Lampshades Hey, I have a couple of trumpets that will look just as good when made into a lamp - I'll send you one (along with some drawings of how to make it into a lamp) in exchange for your Committee - I'd rather play it than let it hold up a light bulb.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Lampshades Measure the outside diameter of the leadpipe - drill a matching hole in the wall - insert leadpipe - fill bell with an LED torch (flashlight) - aim it at the front door and you can illuminate unwanted visitors.
