Learning resources.

Hi all,
What are the best resouces on the net for learning to play the Trumpet?

Ive had a quick search but didnt really find much that was applicable (starting from the very basics).

Im currently trying to find a Teacher/Tutor in my area, but im not having much luck and although i dont want to start getting bad habbits i may have to teach myself a little untill i can find assistance.

Can anyone help?

Why don't you tell us where you are from and we'll see if we can't find you a teacher!

If you are recommending teachers, I'm in NYC so it should be easy. Can anyone recommend a good jazz trumpet teacher in the big apple.

Wilmer,
YES! YES! and YES!
Jimmy Owens is the MAN!
He's a total gentleman, a killer player and a world class teacher.....I'm honored to call him a friend.

BTW-Jimmy and I were invited guests with Claudio Roditi for a week at The Bern Jazz Festival just this past April. Both of them took me to school every night. It was one of the nicest gigs of my life.

PS--I love all of your mentions of my good buddies Vitin Paz, Jon Faddis and Mario Bauza.......

Peace-RV

Ray, it does such good to hear a player of your caliber say that.

And the way you say it too: full of enthusiam, respect, honest humility, and all the good stuff that gets inside of us and makes us try in our own ways to keep reaching and growing.

As trumpet players and human beings.

Thanks!!

Richard

I'm glad you keep mentioning Mr. Owens. He's always been one of my faves since 1971. I have both You Better Believe It and No Escaping It. Provocative titles! He is a consummate player, check out his work with Mr. Mingus. Not to mention Gary Bartz, etc. Unsung m*&^%$#%^&*er.

Be sure to check out the fine website of Alex Yates: http://www.petrouska.com for some wonderful resources. For another good site, especially beginners,
How to Play the Trumpet - WikiHow and be sure to remember that TM is one amazing resource!
