| Listening to the Greats Recently, I purchased a Sony Walman MZ-RH-910 with a mike to record my practice and lesson sessions. However, as it is an MP3 player, I downloaded some music to bring to work. Not being a "real" trumpet afficionado, I could only recall Al Hirt - the man who really go me started on trumpet an ice age ago. I downloaded his music and could not stop playing it. My point is that listening to him play is making me sound better. I know that I have read this in posts both here and on TH, but it is true. Thank you afficianados for bringing this to my attention. | I agree.Personally, I need to have a strong concept of the sound that I want to produce. In order to do that I listen to great players and try and emulate their sound. It works for me. Regards, Trevor |

| Mezzo Forte User | I have Trumpet Spectacular, which features Doc with the Cincinatti Pops. I love that disc. It reminds me of the kind of power I want in my playing, even in the legit realm. |
