![]() | Long brush for leadpipe? While recoating my trumpet tuning crook with grease I took a look through the leadpipe. What a mess! Grease, pieces of Kleenex(Don't ask!), even a plastic "tone enhancer" some guy from Colorado must have sold me at the NYC Brass conference. The schmutz is so dense and stuck to the walls that I'm sure soap and water alone won't remove it all. Does anybody know where to find a "bottle brush" long enough and small enough in diameter to reach the full length of the leadpipe? Maybe if the leadpipe is that filthy the rest of the horn needs a soap-and-water brushing out as well. (Please don't suggest sending it out. I ain't gonna do that.) Thanks for replies.

![]() | Look in the kitchen utensil section of the grocery or Walmart/Target/Walgreen's type place for a "teapot" brush. Jim Thompson told me about this years ago and it is handy to keep in the gig bag for a quick cleaning job. |

They are designed to scrub out the spout section of a teapot. I also use the REKA kit for normal cleaning, but I carry one of these brushes for in between cleanings when I am on the road. | |
