Looking for Good Classical Repetoire for Flugel Horn

I just got a new flugelhorn for Christmas but I am looking for some good music for it in the classical genre. If you know of a good solo that has a good piano reduction for it let me know.

Trumpet Solos

The Bach Suite no 1 is a beautiful piece played extremely well by Yoyo Ma if you can find a recording of it. This site has transcriptions for trumpet. That piece doesnt have a keyboard part but it will certainly show off your musicality.

Claude Bolling wrote a suite called "toot suite" for trumpet and rhythm section. The second movement is for flugel and is really nice.

Re: Looking for Good Classical Repetoire for Flugel Horn

"Nightsongs" by Peaslee alternates trumpet and flugel, it's a really nice piece.

Also the Posthorn Solo from Mahler 3. THere is a piano reduction in the Cichowicz Orchestral Excerpts edition. I just played it for a colleague's memorial service a couple of weeks ago.

Hi, the toot suite movement for flugelhorn is actually the 5th movement not the 2nd. The 2nd movement is for Eb trumpet

We don't have much to go on about how difficult this should be. How well do you play?

Get a Protestant Hymnal and try out a few hymns. Most Christmas themes are great on Flugal horn.

You might look into some French Horn music.
