Looking for schools....

Greetings,
I am a 45 year old college sophomore. I'm going back to school and chasing my lifelong dream of professional trumpet player. My question is: What are the names and locations of America's premier music universities/conservatories. I live in California and have family here so, hopefully we have something awesome out here. If not, I'll go where I need to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to a local JC now and in fall to work on lower division stuff. Thanks in advance,
Mike

Re: Looking for schools....

In California check out San Francisco Conservatory. Mario Guarnai (SP?) is quite good as a player and teacher and a true gentlemen (met him at Midwest)

Otherwise IU, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Eastman, Julliard, Curtis, New England, Cleveland Institute...

Re: Looking for schools....

In no particular order, I'm considering the following for grad school. My teacher and I made this list specific to me, my ability, my special background, and my goals (orchestral) so all the schools may or may not be a great fit for you, but all have strong music and trumpet programs.
Boston Conservatory
DePaul
Indiana Univestiy
Michigan
NEC
Oklahoma City University
Rice
Royal Academy of Music (London)
Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada)
University of Maryland
University of Miami
Univesity of Kentucky
Mannes

Arizona State University with David Hickman.
I am not sure he teaches undergraduates but it's worth a try.

Northwestern in Chicago.

North Texas State University.

University of Florida with Brian Goff.

University Washington with Allen Vizzutti
