On Mannys Retirement

On Manny's Retirement

My step father retired at the age of 75 and was extremely bored because he had little to occupy his time. You are far yoiunger than 75 Manny and I think you are much to young to retire, and would be wasting your time doing so. Incredible talent has to be refined and redefined as a fine bottle of wine with age. Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie were still going strong and learning new things about advanced technique right up untill thier deaths of 65 and 75 years of age. I think you really need to reconsider why you are doing this and re-evaluate the pros and cons.I try and learn something new each day about my art so it doesnt bore me. I'm 42 and will perform till the day I die. Perhaps you just need an extended vacation Manny? You are far to talented a musician to rob the world of your sound...you should reconsider.

Rick,

I don't know man... this gig just keeps getting harder and harder. I have a special horn that weighs about 25 pounds that Dave is making for me that he says ought to make the gig easier. I haven't seen the pictures but it has handles on either side and a tripod with some small sculptures of great players on to keep me inspired. Valves are operated in some revolutionary way. It's all very hush-hush... he'd probably be annoyed if he knew I was talking about it so, keep it between you and me okay? I really don't want to get the guy mad. The last time I did, he secretly had extra spicy curry sereved to me at one of our favorite Indian places and man, I learned my lesson.

Anyway, if this horn works out I'll stay on the gig... otherwise I'm looking forwards to cutting the soles off my shoes, climbing a tree and learning to play the flute to chill out.

I am jealous of anybody that is retiring. more power to you Manny- now when you play it will be for enjoyment and not because it is a job. only you can know your wants and needs and only you can make this decision. I have no idea on your family or other intrests but you must think of them at some point in your life as I said before ---Do what is best for Manny-- you will be missed but life must go on. old geezer Dave
p.s. I hope you will hang around and help us wanna be trumpet players here on TM.

Thanks,

We'll see how that new horn from Dave works out. The tripod ought to be beautiful... it's got little sculptures of Miles Davis and Paris Hilton to keep me inspired.

Mikey is on a distinguished road
How much more would Dave charge to leave off Miles and have 2 Paris Hiltons?

Having some indication of where Paris has been.... are you certain that's the correct choice?

Does the tripod have a ball or swivel head? Also, does it come in scratched gold with bright gold trim and built-in precious wood mute rack with mother of pearl inlaid initials?
