Maurice Andre's health...

Hi Manny,
I've heard reports the last few years that Maurice Andre is in poor health. Have you any information regarding this?

Dave,

I haven't heard anything specific. He's a big fellow and I'm sure weight will contribute to poor health if one is not careful. But I haven't heard about any specific illness. I'll check around. Ask Ed Carroll... he's very plugged in to the international trumpet community, much more so than I.

I had a masterclass with maurice 2004 and he was not suffering from anything in particular except of recovering from some eye operation. Though he could not stand for long time up he was still playing (contrary to the MP recommendation because of the operation)...I do not know what is his condition at the moment, but then he was in good shape for his age.

If I remember correctly he has some diabetes.

He limped noticeably when he was here in Argentina 8 years ago.-

After all this time, has there been any change in his health?

Can he still read to play?

With some this condition can result in shortness of breath as well.

Sorry, I haven't heard a thing but as i said before, Ed Carroll is always your best source for knowing what's going on with personalities like that. He travels abroad much more than I do and would hear more.
