I probably should've worded the title of my thread slightly differently. Taps is far from being a technically difficult passage to play. (Yes, the first four notes in the Haydn are obviously more challenging.) And, the opportunity to play Taps has never been a "struggle" for me at all.

It's the emotional aspect of the circumstances that can often be overwhelming to a trumpeter/bugler. Especially one who himself/herself has served in the military and/or the public safety community. It's that particular feeling that might be "difficult" to explain.
