I got out the horn tonight to practice - something I'm not doing nearly enough of these days for various reasons - (mainly because I'm playing drums all the time) and looking around my practice room, there was nothing I really wanted to work on. It all just seemed so boring!

Then I remembered the book "Jazz Tactics" that I bought a couple of years ago and have only really looked at a few times, so I went and dug it out.

What a refreshing practice session! Man, that book is crammed with good stuff. I'll have to keep slowly working it to see if this old dog might be able to learn a few new tricks - soloing has NEVER been a strong aspect of my playing.
