Note Q.

Ok, so I am a newbie, so take it easy on me.

when I look at a fingering chart, one thing I dont get is, when i look at low C, it is all valves open. no problem with that. but next up is a C#, valves 123 depressed, this is where I get confused, cause next on the chart is 123 depressed also, but this is a Db ( D flat?)?

there is a bunch of these, D# is a Eb, G# is a Ab. so on.

thanks.

Re: Note Q.

C# and Db are the same note. Look at them on a musical score paper.

Re: Note Q.

Welcome to TM, Jimba! The term we use is "enharmonic." D# and Eb sound exactly the same, but are written differently to match the key of the piece. Check out Enharmonic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for more information than you'll ever want to know! Have fun!
