Oh the weather outside is frightful!
OK guys, it's Christmas (or your particular significant holiday), you are going to be playing outside, in the cold by the tree. No problem keeping my mouthpiece warm, I just put it in my pocket with a heat pack, but how do you keep your horn warm. My main instrument is the cornet. As soon as it gets cold it sounds like I have a sock stuffed in the bell. Yes, I've checked, there is no sock. Have any of you ever figured out how to keep a horn at least moderatelly warm in 35 degree darkness? I've given some thought to wrapping it in heat packs. I've seen those socks that go over part of it but have never tried them. Ideas?
Re: Oh the weather outside is frightful!
Try another heat pack, wrap it around the valves. Doesn't make the horn toasty, but it does take the chill off.
