I am headed out to look at an Olds Ambassador about 30 yrs old. Supposed to be in decent shape (some wear). The owner is asking $125. Is this a good price for a starter horn if it is just showing some wear but is otherwise OK?

It is probably a good price if it is in good shape. I sold one that was like new for $200 about a year ago. They are good trumpets, not just good starter trumpets.

If it is around 30 yrs, it would be towards the end of production (1979) which many think the horns of Ambassador range were not as good as those built in 1950's and 1960's, although my 73 cornet is fine. Google Olds Central for a wealth of Olds info. You don't say whether it is a cornet or trumpet. $125 is sort of a median price for most that sell on ebay. If the horn looks good , plays well and is something you like, the price seems ok to me. Be sure and check the condition of the pistons and slide actions. Good luck!
