Well I have an old beat up Holton which my parents bought for me for $100 on ebay . Well I have gotten a new one since then ( a TR200 bach silver intermediate trumpet) and have been improving, but the new one is for concert and that old one (the Holton) is for marching band. There is minimum amount of wear on the lacquer and 1 piece missing, and the bell is bent outward in a mushroom cloud shape on my old Holton. Well I am thinking about getting a complete overhaul for $250 - $450, which includes replacement of missing pieces, all dents fixed (including the bell) ,new lacquer being put on it, replacement of valve springs, new velvet for valves and a tad bit more which I could do at my house anyway. Do you believe this is worth the money, or should I abandon the project. I will try to get a picture of it on here pretty quick, but it is at school. Please state your opinion.

What model Holton is it? If it is an old pro horn, it could very well be worth it!

Restoring it is not worth it, IMO.

If the valve body is good then it might be a decent start of a modified custom horn (new leadpipe, tuning slide, braces, etc.....).

My primary horn is an "old Holton"....serial number is saying 1966, about the time my parents bought it for me used. No model number, just the term "Collegiate" on it. Don't know if it is a student model or not.....haven't been able to find out either. Anybody got a clue?...chuck
