I bought a leather chamois but hesitate to use it until it's confirmed that you use it wet, or dry? The general use requires it to be wet but I wanted to be sure of your method..........thanks tom/crowmadic

If you use it to wipe down automobile laquer (which is much more delicate than the metals used on valves), having it wet (or actually moist) keeps from scratching the paint when contaminants are present. This is a different situation than with our trumpets where we need bone dry surfaces for the oil to bond to. Oil floats on water, so if the valve or casing isn't dry, there is no bond=bad protection=premature wear!

Wow! I'm so glad I asked, I assumed a chamoise always needed to be used wet. But I understand your reasoning and will use it dry. Thanks again....tom
