rowuks long tones
I would like to thank Robin for this advice! I read alot of what he says and the one thing he always says for high range and just playing the trumpet is play soft and do long tones and slurs. I started doing that and my playing has really improved! I play real soft and use hardly any mp pressure and when it comes time for my gig my playing is so much easier! Thanks Bill
Re: rowuks long tones
They aren't my long tones. I am not smart enough to invent something like this.
The advantages are:
you have TIME to pay attention to how you breathe, how you sound and how you play. You notice if there is a bit too much pressure, too little air or wimpy sound. If you pay ttention, it is a time when you relly are in touch with what you are doing. That makes it easier to get better.
Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.
