Settling in

Tonight I played with an orchestra accompanying a choir. I don't know why but I always feel intimidated in an orchestra setting.

We were playing for about half an hour and the first trumpet played a wrong note in an exposed section. I leaned over to the guy playing third and said "it wasn't me that time" and we all laughed. The first player said "not my finest moment" and I replied "don't worry, it makes me more secure with what I'm doing"

After that I felt very comfortable and played well all night.

Sometimes a little moment like that to break the ice helps. Glad you had fun.
