| New Friend | Hi, I sent my Martin Committee trumpet to Musical Instrument Repair Shop for refurbishment six weeks ago. I emailed them to get an update on delivery and was told that they take 36-42 weeks on average and are a small family business. They told me that other pro-shops take 1 -2 years for refurbishment.I have sent other trumpets out and have never heard of such a thing. Please take this as FYI before sending your instruments out to anyone.---Gar |

![]() | Re: Shocked There may be a handfull of shops with long waiting times like those (I know of one in particular), but there are very good ones that can do a normal lacquered overhaul in a couple of weeks. If plating is involved, add a week or two, and if a valve job is involved, another couple of weeks. That's six weeks max for a high quality "fix everything" job.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Shocked I would call and see if they started it yet. If not, I would pay for the shipping and have them send it back. Then send it to someone like Charlie Melk. Charlie's Brass Works - Specializing in Professional Brass Instrument Customization, Repair and Refinishing Charlie is about the best. Look at his pages for restoration...takes about 4-6 weeks. Hope it turns out well. -cw-
