    Skinsnes and Manley

I was at a clinic by K.O. Skinsnes and Jim Manley last evening. I thoroughly enjoyed what they both had to say and would urge anyone else to go check these guys out if they turn up in your neck of the woods.

Jim shared his latest CD, "8" with me. These are all octet arrangements of many standards.

I highly recommend you check this out, if you haven't already. The charts are all excellent and Jim plays with both an air of authority that a high note player of his caliber is wont to do and also with the great taste of one with serious ojt experience! I think this is one of his best CD's.

    FWIIW coming from me.

I think it is amazing that Jim is in his mid 50's and still gets better every time I hear him. I've known Jim since 1973. He's an amazingly dedicated trumpet player. And a truly nice guy.

Nick is right. Check out his latest cd. You won't be disappointed.
