Soreness???

This morning I woke up and my cheeks were kind of sore. The day before, my last playing, at jazz band, was kind of weird. I was fine the whole time and was playing higher and louder than usual without any change in my playing. About 3/4 through the rehearsal, my cheeks began puffing a little when I played high. It got worse and worse to the point where I couldnt play without puffing. My playing didnt change at all, but I know this kind of puffing isnt good. Could i have pulled muscles like an athlete or something?? Could it be from playing too much, or too loud, or too high, or a combination of all??

So right now I am sitting here with sore cheeks, trying not to play much today, but having 2 rehearsals. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks--Jared

I had the same thing happen to me about a week ago. I was playing exceptionally well in th upper register and the next day it hurt in my cheeks. I was sore for about 2 days but I took it easy played only about 3 hours a day and nothing to strenuos and was fine by the 3rd or 4th day.

The cheeks were still puffing today, but I sounded better than ever. Im getting to like my playing now, but I know I cant develope this bad habit.
