Re: Speeding the patina process
Yesterday I stayed up until 12am and then decided that I wanted to give my trumpet a bath! Crazy me....
But I left it in the tub full of water with soap added, until I woke up at around 10ish, then at 12pm (when I finally had my afternoon clear) I went ahead and thoroughly cleaned my horn, inside and out!
Got done, spot checked it for the little bits of lacquer STILL left!ha Finally removed from what I saw all of it. Washed the areas, air dried it the horn and wa la, finished!
About 1 hr later I saw that it had a purple, dark brown, light brown color to it. But for some reason, it can only be seen with little light?!?
I'm not sure where I read it, but it said when people take the lacquer off themselves, their is still a light film of protection or something like that. Maybe I took that off and it finally revealed itself? Cause I can guarantee you my horn did not look like this when I last saw it.
Anyways, just curious, it is a pretty cool color though...
