Spit Valve Problems for Yamaha Xeno

Anyone else have problems with these?

The spit valve on my main tuning slide had the spring corrode and fell off after two years of ownership. The main valve (what the cork attaches to), was pretty f'ed up as well.

The spit valve on the third valve slide coroded after three years of ownership; same stuff as the main one.

I'm able to replace these within a few weeks of this happening, and yes, I'll get some spares in case this happens again. Using masking tape can be a pain.

I'm just wondering: am I weird or what? Is there any way to prevent this? Anyone else have these problems? I have seen trumpets older than I am that haven't had this.

Well, thanks for your time,
Aaron

miles71 will become famous soon enough
Ive owned my 8335RGS for about 3-4 years now and It is still like new(with the exception of the cork being a little flat). I just got a 8445G, but was impressed with the quality if both horns. I would check into the rubber inserts and make sure the spring isnt getting extra spit on it in the case, I know they shouldnt but sometimes they will rust.
