Trumpet Career

How do you get a good paying career in the trumpet business these days to where you could live average or slightly above average off of it?

Re: Trumpet Career

I think maybe you should shoot for average. I don't know many trumpet players living the high life.

I live with 2 roommates, that is probably slightly above average.

Re: Trumpet Career

So in other words unless your a natural or insanely good at trumpet shoot for a main job outside of trumpet?

That would be probably the most obvious idea, but if I do this I don't want it to get to the point where I put my trumpet part of the career so far off to the side away from my other one that I'm not taking it to its full potential or having enough time to really get into it.

Re: Trumpet Career

I didn't say you couldn't make a living playing the trumpet, but it may not be as cushy as you'd like. Its fine for me, but I can do without the finer things in life, it doesn't really bother me.

You're in 10th grade, you have a lot of time to think about your career. I still want to be a rally car driver when I grow up!
