I travel with my kids a lot, and I am not sure why the uniforms are going "Carry on" but thats your directors decision.

My old college went on a plane to Italy and lost a string bass, about 6 weeks after the gig they got a small box from the airlines with a lot of broken wood, some wound up strings, and a letter saying "we found the instrument, sorry."

Dont take the nice horn unless you can carry it on. Put the marching horn under the plane and get a nice slim single case for the Strad as a carry on. I have an old Wolfpack single I have taken to Europe and it did great. Check the classifieds on this site and others so such a case.

My band is going to Disney in Feb., but we are busing for about 18 hours (builds character in young people). My group I perform with is going to Michigan and Canada this summer and North Whales next summer. I just got a Marcus Bonna quad and a Rawbrass Tpt/Flugel. Best of luck and have a great time, these band trips will make some great memories.

Im thinking, maybe if I have time next weekend (seeing transiberian orchestra on saturday and sunday stores are closed here) ill try and get to dillon's to see if they have a sturdy case I can use, but if not I am going to be up that entire transatlantic flight over to london worrying about my precious horn. I really can't use my aristocrat for jazz, as its practically a dead horn, it sounds fine, but the valves are crap. I might be able to see if I can use my director's silver TR300, its a student horn, but its better then bringing over an instrument that cost a lot to buy and took over a year to find.......If not ill be packing a pair of jeans, a couple shirts, and a pair of pjs, and putting my horn in my suitcase!
