    Trumpet Lead pipe Repair.

    Hi
1.I have an Holton B Flat trumpet.

2.I need to change my lead pipe for my B flat trumpet. Because of age and tarnish.

3.If i change the lead pipe, this new piece, does it make the sound change ?

or some other things make different than the original lead pipe ?

4.Usually how much do they charge.

Age and tarnish aren't really a reason to change the pipe.

But, if it truly DOES need it, depending on which model Holton, they're usually less than USD100. The sound may or may not change depending on how closely it matches what you have today.

For the MF, the lead pipe tube is about $50. You may also need to replace the mouthpiece receiver (about $40) and the upper tuning slide receiver ($5 or so). Plus installation.

FWIW, I have brought my 1950 Olds Ambassador with a rotten, cracked leadpipe
to my brass tech to have a Fullerton leadpipe in mint condition installed (plus I was able to
track down an Olds main tuning slide, like new as well).
This leadpipe "repair" job (it is rather a 4-point soldering job) will cost me appr. 100$,
material and all included, and it will yield a more than decent backup horn IMHO.

So I had that soldering job done, and the result is quite nice,
even if I have an L.A. horn with a Fullerton leadpipe now, but that is OK,
as a backup horn everything is fine, the old lady plays very well.

So it's a Commerce, Bell Gardens, or a Downey Ambassador.
