Trumpetplayers in movies?

I just bought a DVD called Cowboy with Rafael Mendez playing one scene in it (on cornet). My question is if you guys know more old movies with trumpetplayers in it. I know Harry James played in some, but don't know the titles.

That has Louis in it, and Nat Adderley is doing the overdubbing.

Re: Trumpetplayers in movies?

Rafael Mendez was also in at least one ZORRO episode. I think Harry James played the theme tune to the Green Hornet. I don't remember seeing him act though.

I believe it was Al Hirt who played the green hornet theme.

Swing Fever

and I know there are more that I can't think of right now.

Not really an old movie, but Sergei Nakariakov was in some Japanese film about a struggling trumpeter. There are clips of it on his website.

Absolutely correct. I have the album that Al put out with his Green Hornet theme song. I watched the show so I could listen to the theme.

Did you know some people think that the Green Hornet theme was/is the Flight of the Bumble Bee?

Re: Trumpetplayers in movies?

Jack Sheldon has been in a ton of movies and T V shows .
He even had his own sitcom back in the late 60's, it was called 'Run Buddy Run".
There is a list of many of the movies and T V shows he has been in on his website:
www.jacksheldon.com
check it out.

Re: Trumpetplayers in movies?

Louis Armstrong appears in The Five Pennies from 1959. It's a movie about the life of Jazz Great Loring "Red" Nichols who is played in the movie by Danny Kaye.

It is, sort of. Maybe the Flight of the Hornet? Ha ha,

Anyway, I appeared in a movie that was made a few years ago, playing Eb cornet in a Civil War band. It was named "The Greatest Adventure of My Life", and has yet to be released (probably because the music was so bad!) I hear Disney may buy it, and then I'll be a star!
