listen to the masterclasses on the yamaha site, those guys have some good things to say on this subject.

Also, the reason I asked if you've tried a 1 1/4C standard weight is that that's the mouthpiece I use, and I'd say it's far from being too bright in the top register. In fact I bought a Schilke 15B for a bit more brightness when I'm playing in a big band.
But if you're curious, try a Monette B2 - should be basically the same size as the 1 1/4C, but with a bigger backbore I think.
