    Tuning frequencies [King Silver Flair]

    Hey, Everybody!

I'd like to buy this King Silver Flair from

KING 2055S SILVER FLAIR - U.K. International Cyberstore

But I've got some doubts about the tuning. Are these models adjusted to the "American Standard Pitch" where A = 440 Hz? Or could I play on a King also in Hungary where the tuning frequency of A is often much higher?

I don't think they make high pitch and low pitch instruments any more, so I think no matter what, you are stuck with the manufacturers choice.
Trumpets are built sharp though, so you may just have to not pull the slide out if you find it out of tune with your orchestra.

It depends. The first generation Xeno trumpets had problems with some players in Germany as the standard A=443 was just a bit out of range.

The horns themselves probably are OK, but many do not play on the resonant center. IF the horn is not quite up to pitch, the best place to shorten with the least change in playability it is where the bell meets the valves. Another option is to shorten the part where the tuning slide joins the trumpet, but I have noticed intonation issues sometimes here.
