I haven't played a rotary trumpet, but I have played several Weril instruments. They are made in Brazil by a company that has quite a bit of experience. They were the providers for the old L.A. Horns. They have had some valve and finish problems in the past that seem to have been taken care of. Around the industry the word is that this company works very hard to make a great horn at a reasonable price. The Weril euphonium is a copy of the Yamaha 321 and is supposedly terrific and about half the price.

They, like Jupiter, are an up an coming company. The Jupiter Tribune XO trumpet and Tribune trombone are well respected (after years of less respect).

I would not have a problem buying a Weril. They are distributed by DEG and in the last few years nothing but good things have been said about them. They are an inexpensive quality alternative.

I play a Weril Excalibur Flugel. It's a great horn for the money and is gold plated as well. I've also played the Regium flugels and the Piston valve trumpets and they've all been great value.
I notice on their website that they've now got a picollo trumpet, that should be interesting.

Anyone see the movie called On Fire? It showed a bugler playing a rotary trumpet.
