![]() | Re: What would be a good exerpt book to get? If this is your first excerpt book, I would highly recommend Philip Norris' Top 50 Orchestral Audition Excerpts for Trumpet. It features almost all of the most commonly requested excerpts, as well as written summaries and instrument suggestions for each excerpt. If you decide to take orchestral auditions, you'll want to start looking at entire parts, but to start out this is a perfect book. I could find a link to buy it online, but it's published by Crown Music Press. -Jimi |

| Pianissimo User | Re: What would be a good exerpt book to get? I second the Top 50 book. Another suggestion is the Cherry Music trumpet excerpt collection which is a CD of complete parts (.pdf). If you're just getting your feet wet in orchestral literature, I would recommend you start with the Top 50 book because it has almost all (and only) the important stuff, whereas the Cherry CD has much much more, though it lacks most of the more modern pieces because of copyright issues.
