Your next program

Well, looking at this weekend's program, I'm pretty gassed. I thought there might be others here who might like to share their next program, as well. I put this in general trumpet because... well, I just did. (I'm kind of punchy about now...)

We are doing the following:
Holst: Suite in F
Reed: Alleuia! Laudamus Te
Granger: The Power of Rome and the Christian Heart
Saint-Saens: Finale from Symphony No. 3
Prelude and Fugue from "Schwonda the Bagpiper" (Love that title!)

We're doing it to benefit the organ at the college... a huge pipe organ that shakes your bones, so that's why all the organ stuff. It needs a few things done for upkeep and such.

Share your programs... what is everyone else up to?

Glenn,

Good idea.

The brass quintet I play in (Classic Brass) is giving a concert in March. Here's our program.

Die Meistersinger
Die Bankelsangerlieder
Maple Leaf Rag
Little Brown Jug
Procession of the Nobles
When I'm 64
Amparito Roca
Second Suite in F
Just a Closer Walk (Canadian brass version)
Barnum & Bailey's Favorite
Musik for the Royal Fireworks
America the Beautiful
Hallelujah Chorus
Can-Can
The Lord Bless You and Keep You
Amazing Grace (Canadian Brass version)

I am so looking forward to this concert. Our group has been looking for more opportunities to play, and figured, why not just put on our own concert. So we are. I sent out an email to all my friends and family with our playlist attached and asked them to pick songs they'd like to hear if they came to the concert. So, most of those songs are requested, plus each member of the group picked a song too. Should be a great concert.

If any of you are around Rochester, MN on March 19th let me know and I'll give you more details.

Warren

Nice topic...

The marching band I'm in has a program of about 12 minutes performing music from the trilogy LOTR. Songs like May it be, The hornbug, Gollums song etc. Very nice music made by Howard Shore.

The Big-Band plays a great variety of songs. Some titles: Girl Talk, 88 basie street, South Rampart Street parade, The Chicken, The Healer, Fred, Harlem Nocturne, Ja-Da, Moon River, All of Me, I wish you love, Song of the Volga boatmen, Mack the Knife, To close for comfort, It's allrght with me.

David,

Four ensembles at once in High School! That’s amazing to me. I played in band and jazz band when I was in high school and drum corps on the weekends. There were several years after I got out of school where I was playing in a brass band, college (evening) orchestra, brass quintet, wind ensemble, Mesa Symphony and taking private lessons. I literally had a playing commitment everyday of the week.

Are you playing the big solo in the Copland?

It really sounds like you have immersed yourself in music. I hope your concerts go well, and I hope that this focus will allow you to play your best for your upcoming auditions.

Take care,

Take care,
I wish I was playing the solo, but unfortunatly, the solo was written for trumpet, and I play 2nd horn in the Symphony. The kid playing it is great though, it's in good hands.
