| 2006-2007 Dear Readers, Thanks to all of you who chose to particpate in the Manny 911 forum. I've enjoyed the year getting to know many of you and look forward to the next calendar year. It's funny how we look for landmarks, physical and mental. The beginning of an etude and the bottom of its last line, the first time through something, the last performance... these markers help us mark time. Time goes by slowly and it goes by quickly. For some the first show comes too quickly and the last show doesn't come soon enough but for the optimist it is the last show that we dread when you enjoy a piece that much. And so it is with us trumpeters... we mark time with our accomplishments. When we don't feel we've accomplished enough, time goes by far too quickly. Thank goodness for the fans of the old Brooklyn Dodgers that taught us "There's always next year...." If tonight is a landmark for you then I hope it's a good one. If it's an opportunity to replace old habits with newer ones, good. Give energy to that thought and use every opportunity to do so. It won't happen without the energy you bring to wanting to change something. If you're happy with things then hang on to that which you do and don't be afraid to be satisfied. Enjoy your sense of accomplishment. After all, you DID work for it, didn't you? Try new things... enjoy the good, old, tried and true... share your success with someone, you may change their life... enjoy your good ideas and pat yourself on the back now and again... thank someone who helped you out.... There are lots of ways to start a new year. What's going to be your way? Happy New year to all my friends and acquaintances from TM. May 2007 be what you make of it. Manny Laureano |

| Re: 2006-2007 Thanks for the encouraging words, Manny. As a lot of you know, 2006 was a rough year for me. It's so hard saying goodbye to someone you love. But after a while, you realize the person is in a far better place. This past year has taught me to live each day to its fullest, take nothing for granted, and to love and respect those around me. I am looking forward to the 2007 "journey", and the endless possibilities that await me. Happy New Year to all my friends and colleagues on TM, and I wish you all the best in your careers and lives... Remember: Life is a journey; taken one step at a time. M. |

| Fortissimo User | Re: 2006-2007 And from up this-a-way.... "CHIMO!" This has become a Canadian toast but apparently has a more interesting derivation: "CHIMO "CHIMO," is derived from an old Inuktitut word saiurtqu. The word was used as an Inuit greeting. According to folklore, when two people met on the Arctic tundra, they rubbed their chests in a circular motion and said, "Chimo" ("Are you friendly?") The answer was a repeat of the gesture and the word "Chimo!" ("Yes, I am friendly!)" Now I'll sit back and wait to see what Alex replies with or what Chuck has to say!! | Re: 2006-2007 Manny, Watching time click by and seeing it get faster and faster is really something. I mark it with my kids. That went by way too quickly. I have a lot to be thankful for so I say thanks and onward to the new. My boss made me read a book called "Who moved my cheese" It talks about not being afraid of change and what's ahead. (After reading the book I quit my job because I wasn't afraid anymore. I love irony) There is always something ahead. I hope what's ahead for all of you next year is good. Happy new year, Joe |

| Forte User | Re: 2006-2007 I've had some pretty major landmarks this year, both musically and personally. I count the freindships I've made here among the cheif of them. I've never been one to say "good luck" when I mean well wishing ... I think it trivializes the work one has done to arrive at a certain point. Play well. Work hard, work smart. *p.s. Thank YOU Manny, for giving us this Manny 911 forum to participate in. Last edited by tpter1 : 12-31-2006 at 06:14 PM. Reason: 1 additional thought |

| Re: 2006-2007 Thanks for the words of encouragment Manny. 2006 was pretty rough on me, in fact the only good thing to look back on was meeting you, Mike and the others in London. 2007 is going to be a tough year too by the looks of things, but I'm going to do my best to make sure there are a lot more positives than there were last year. Success to temperance |
