![]() | Re: Adagio for Strings Make your own! It comes from Samuel Barber's 1st String Quartet, so it has four parts--the old school method of transcribing such works was to have the Tuba double the Cello part down an octave. If nothing else, you'll get to know the piece even better! |

| Pianissimo User | Re: Adagio for Strings We definitely did this in our high school quintet. I'll look around to see if I have a copy of it anywhere. I don't remember who arranged it, but I doubt we would have been able to play the Canadian Brass version. |

| Re: Adagio for Strings Adagio for Strings is a beautiful piece. The orchestral arrangement has a much different texture than the original string quartet arrangement. I have heard some nice (clarinet choir) and awful (bassoon quartet!) arrangements. For brass quintet it sure would be a good teaching tool for legato, extended phrases and slow tempos. Have fun! |

| Forte User | Re: Adagio for Strings Please though, if you play it in public, do it justice. I'm really tired of people trying to play it, but putting no emotion or feeling into it. This piece takes a TON of control. Also make sure you play it with some good friends of yours, so you can each feel good about listening and playing together. |

| Re: Adagio for Strings I don't think that will be a problem, patric. We all really like this song and have listened to it many times. VB, I don't really know how to do that. I wish I did, but I don't! Any tips on where to find that quartet piece? |
