AFM Paper this month

Did anyone catch the full page ad on the back of this month's AFM paper?

It is a great shot of Chris Martin endorsing Yamaha. I don't care about the Yamaha part. I am still in awe of what Chris has accomplished. I am also so very proud of him. Bravo.

I got the paper yesterday. I wonder what it costs to put an add like that in the AFM papper.....

As a side note: I met one of the Yamaha Designers at ITG. He was a real nice guy. He was checking out all the booths and was seemed to be interested in the horns will heavy braces...I wonder what we will see next from them.

PT

BTW: Trompetvrouw it was great to meet you this past week. I wish we had more time to hang.

The feeling is beyond mutual Paul. It was so great to finally connect. Next time we will have to share a few pints for sure. I was in your beautiful part of the country back in '96.....hmmmmm.....maybe it's time again. My grandmother's family hails from Nova Scotia.

Let me know when your new CD is out and put me first on the list. I have really enjoyed the others. Keep up the wonderful work!

FYI Blasti - Chris has always played Yamaha. Back in the mid 90's at Eastman we were the only two who played them. I know there were pictures of Chris "trying" a Laskey trumpet, but I don't think he was endorsing them.

NickD has a spectacular aura about
Yamaha

I think (not sure, mind you) that ALL the CSO players are using Yamaha these days. Can anyone verify or correct?

The king is dead (Bach).
Long live the king (Yamaha).

Yes, this is probably a gross generalization. But seriously with many orchestras using Yammies now, and some using other horns like Monette, the Bach dominance in American orchestras seems to have ended.

With respect to Chris Martin I continually kick myself for not getting to the ASO while he was here. (sigh) Road Trip!

Just to clarify- three of the CSO players use the Yamaha, but Mark Ridenour still primarily uses his Bach.

Alex,

If you are ever in NS let me know. There is a great Scottish pub.....

As for the new record, it should be out in Nov. or Dec. I'll keep you posted.

Best,
PT
