Re: Anybody Play This?

Maybe this is the same thing as Goedicke's Concert Etude. I've seen it published as "Concert Study" too.

Re: Anybody Play This?

Fun piece, overall slots quite nicely on the C, but to play the trills is easier on the Bb,

Excellent double-tonguing work-out

Re: Anybody Play This?

Are there any audio clips of this piece posted anywhere? It would be interesting to hear it.

Re: Anybody Play This?

Jurandr,
Thanks for the links. I looked at the sheet music and it did not look nearly as hard as the video made it sound - until I looked at the metronome marking: 152! No wonder his tongue and fingers were so busy.

BTW, does anybody know what model of trumpet Alejandro is playing? If I had one of those maybe I could play this music and sound this good.

I had those links on hand already. I'm planning to play that piece for my school's solo contest, and super-fast music with intricate finger-work like that has always been a challenge for me, so I'll be learning something from this piece (as is my goal every year...). Plus I may be able to use this as audition material later on.....

As for those last lines... you're just TRYING to incur Rowuk's wrath, aren't you?

Re: Anybody Play This?

You don't have to play it fast. Some judges will mark you down if you play it fast. If you can play it slower, musically and have clean even double tonguing I think the judges will reward you.
Timofe plays it the best. I think his CD is called "Romantic Trumpet." He plays it slower but not slowly.
Al Vizzutti has a recording that is just as good.
I think Phil Smith plays it on the ITG CD of contest pieces. See the ITG web site. Maybe they have it for sale.
