Arutunian recording

What are some of your favorite recordings of the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto? I've started to (sort of) work this piece up, lol, and I'm unfortunatly lacking a recording. So who do you guys (and gals) recommend?

Re: Arutunian recording

Try to find a recording with Timofei Dokshizer playing. He is the authority on that piece.

I've got one at home that Bibi Black recorded. Don't know the title or record company, 'cuz I'm at work, but you could probably find it on Amazon. It's a great recording and she plays fantastic.

I agree. You can order his recording that has the Arutunian on it through the ITG. It was sent to members for free at one point, but if you conctact them you can order the CD for a reasonable price.

Okay, I've just gone back and re-listened to this tonight. The title of the cd is"Soviet Trumpet Concertos". It's on the Chandos label and was recorded with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra.

My question is why would you stay away from the Bibi stuff? Is it her interpretation, tone quality, technical skill or lack there of? What's your beef? If I could play as well as her I'd be very pleased. Now I'll admit that I haven't heard the Dokshizer recording that was mentioned. Bibi's may very well pale in comparison, but please be a little more specific in your criticism.

You are absolutely correct in your evaluation of her looks. If I knew where she went (is she missing ?) I might be tempted to keep it a secret.
